December - 2017

It's time for climate action.

Earlier this year, the Flagstaff City Council set a goal to take meaningful climate action. In response, the City is asking community members, local businesses, and partner institutions to help create Flagstaff's first Climate Action and Adaptation Plan.

Check out the recent blog post on the Plan and how it relates to Flagstaff's waste and consumption.

Registration is still open for the Master Recycler course!

If you know anyone who would be interested in taking the class and becoming a Master Recycler, send them here for more information and an application. We also have some brochures that I can share to give to interested folks or display at your work or any organizations you are a part of.

Make sure to continue reporting your hours

Even if you've completed your 30-hour commitment, we'd appreciate you continuing to report, so that we can measure progress of the program and improve your experience.

Upcoming volunteer opportunities

The December volunteer calendar is a bit sparse at the moment, but continue to check back for opportunities that are added after the release of this newsletter. As always, you are are welcome to find your own volunteers opportunities and we are happy to help in any way possible, so let us know if you need ideas, outreach materials, or any other help.

Not sure how many hours you've completed?

We've compiled all volunteer activity into a google spreadsheet, which summarizes the various activities each Master Recycler has completed. If you scroll to the bottom, you can find the total number of hours you have completed. We'll be updating the spreadsheet at the end of each month. You can access the spreadsheet here.

Are there waste or materials related topics you'd like to learn more about?

We'd like to set up another gathering in January to update you all on recent happenings in the City and maybe feature a topic or speaker to dive in deep to a specific topic. If you have any ideas for potential topics or speakers you'd like to hear from, please send them to
