Greetings from Slide Rock State Park! Every year, the park hosts a fall festival for visitors to enjoy Oak Creek Canyon's autumnal offerings - changing leaves, apple orchards, etc! In addition to the normal park sights, the festival brings in various local vendors to disseminate local information and sell their wares. This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 29th, from 9am to 3pm. We are looking for volunteers to help run our children's activities, which include creating scarecrows utilizing reused, up cycled clothing. This would also be a great opportunity for Master Recyclers to come and do some educational tabling on trash/recycling, as most locals know this is a major environmental issue at Slide Rock and all throughout the canyon.
Interested volunteers can contact Janet Hofman, Assistant Park Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (928) 282-3034. We prefer people who can commit to the 9am-3pm event time, but can accommodate alternate schedules as well. Lunch will be provided, as well as free entry to the park.
