We will again do our First Saturday white-paper drop off event at the MRF on Oct 5 from 8 am to noon. We will also be finishing off the last of the USGS library materials, and will help recycle any hard-back books that come to us. We are adding a new wrinkle too. We discovered that 5 gal buckets are not currently recycled at the MRF because they don't fit on the belts. They are HDPE (#2) and Norton can take them directly to the #2 hoppers for recycling if we bring them separately (not part of the mixed recycling). A couple of us have begun collecting them from restaurants. They contain 2 pounds of plastic, worth 20 cents each. And, of course, we will continue to contact the public doing their recycling drop-off.
